TMAA Announces Distinguished Municipal Attorney Award
The Distinguished Municipal Attorney Award will be presented at the Winter Seminar next February. This award was designed by the Executive Committee to be a true honor, an expression of appreciation and admiration for exceptional contributions to TMAA and the municipal practice and other accomplishments by the selected municipal lawyer. It is for those who have reached the mountaintop. This is why the Committee declined to call it the “Municipal Attorney of the Year” award. They wanted the award to be based only on merit and didn’t want it given routinely as a matter of obligation or to be overly influenced by political expediency. Please make any nominations in this spirit. Your nominations form should be delivered to Nelle Greulich, Business Manager, by June 8, the date of the Summer Seminar.
IMLA Gives Membership Break to Small Cities in TMAA
The International Municipal Lawyers Association has agreed with TMAA to allow city attorneys from cities with a population of less than 2,600 who are members of TMAA to become members of IMLA for a very modest yearly membership fee of $50.00. The normal charge is $375.00. IMLA, like TMAA, provides CLE programs, publications, a listserve, ordinance services, and other assistance to city attorneys. This should be an opportunity for attorneys from small cities to broaden their contacts and horizons. To join IMLA under this program, contact TMAA.
